Jane Mountain
Senior UX and Service Designer
As a designer and writer, Jane is on a lifelong journey to make people’s lives a little easier. She’s worked at sprawling Fortune 100 companies, nimble agencies, and plucky start-ups since 2004, developing a toolkit that spans research, UX design, service design, and content strategy.
She helps clients see their services the way people actually experience them, which is never the straight line a process diagram suggests. Two decades of working on services have taught her that you usually can’t get from A to B without going through H, F, and Z. True insights are hidden in the detours.
At OXD, Jane leads public sector teams through discovery, research, and design. With clients including BC Parks, the Provincial Court of BC, and the University of British Columbia, she has worked on projects ranging from a single product redesign to multi-team programs spanning years. She invests heavily in the people she works with, coaching designers and researchers one-on-one and building the shared structures that help a whole team raise its game.
Outside of work, Jane is usually planning her next trip—so far, she’s bicycled through 22 countries and visited 50. She hopes to ride her motorcycle through the rest of the world sometime soon.
