OpenRoad awarded Vancouver Public Library redesign

OpenRoad (now OXD) was recently awarded the contract to redesign and build the Vancouver Public Library website. The successful proponent of a competitive RFP process, OpenRoad will be working during the next year to re-launch the popular website and migrate to an open-source content management platform.

OpenRoad will be joined by design and usability partners Karo Design and Performance by Design in the redevelopment of the site. The partnership brings the best of information technology, visual design, and usability together. The project begins in May 2007 and will continue throughout the 2007 calendar year.

Funded by the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Public Library is the third largest public library system in Canada, with over 373,000 cardholders and more than 10 million items borrowed annually. The library's origins go back as far as 1869. Today, with the Central Library, 20 branches, collections available in a variety of formats & languages, and Outreach Services to home-bound patrons, VPL strives to be accessible to all citizens of Vancouver.
