Gordon Ross

Vice President and Partner

As Vice President and Partner of OXD, Gordon has been leading the design and delivery of high-impact websites, web applications, and intranets since 1996. He has been instrumental in leading the development of our service design offering and has spoken internationally on service design in government. Gordon blends his interest in user-centred design and ethnography, with a passion for understanding the role technology plays inside organizations and in society at large. His value lies in bridging the gap between theory and practice in an accessible manner.

Gordon has provided digital service strategy and leadership for clients like BC Hydro, the City of Vancouver, Hydro Ottawa, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the Attorney General, Mountain Equipment Co-op, the Public Guardian & Trustee, TransLink, TELUS, Transportation Investment Corporation (TReO), and the Vancouver Public Library.

Gordon has a degree in Communications from Simon Fraser University (SFU). He’s passionate about the ideas surrounding communications, complexity, ethnography, service design, social network analysis, theory of technology, urban planning, and how the collision of these ideas can help organizations thrive and make work better. He has spoken at conferences like Service Design in Government, Converge, InFlux, SXSW, Digital Strategy Vancouver, the Social Intranet Summit, LegalIT, Enterprise 2.0, World IA Day, and has lectured locally at SFU, the University of British Columbia, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Gordon is a co-founder and organizer of the Vancouver User Experience Group. He is a certified Cognitive Edge practitioner, has served on the Board of the Vancouver Public Library, and is a lifelong road cyclist.
